Kapali Awarded Computer Science Scholarship

PUHI, Kauai – Kauai Community College and Rare & Dear, Inc. have selected Byron Kapali as the first recipient of a $1,000 computer science scholarship.
The scholarship program is planned to annually recognize one Kauai Community College student moving on to a four-year college in Hawaii to pursue a course of study in computer or management information science.
Kapali, a resident of Kapaa, will attend University of Hawaii at Hilo, plans to transfer to the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he hopes to complete his computer science degree.
He was described by a former employer as "being totally committed to working with computers."

We want Hawaii's bright students – especially those from Kauai – to have opportunities right here in their home state. Technology, particularly computer science, is one area where our students can excel, and we're proud to recognize the achievements of Mr. Kapali and to support him in his endeavors."
